High School Cheerleader
As you may know, the Socialist countries were very strong when it came to
sports. In fact, it was a form of marketing. Our countries could use it to show
to the Westerners and give its people a bit of hope. Sponsoring and Financing was mainly by
the State because back then private companies as we know it didn't exist.
Since the fall of communism the East part of Europe saw a lack of
fundraising for youth
sports teams and college groups. The level of sports
dropped drastically.
 Cheerleading
Sportsman and high school teams had to find a way to support
themselves independently from the State. Not like in the USA where you
ask supporters to scratch off a dot on a scratch card and then donate the
amount revealed and in return you give them a sheet of valuable coupons for supporting your musical
high school.
That's probably why in America many colleges and high schools attract
skilled people to take part in major sports including baseball,
college football,
cheerleading, soccer, softball, band, and dozens more.
Now with the
high school musical movies becoming so popular here students are
getting some good ideas of how they can fund their school's activities. And
since the hottest
girls are here we were one step ahead.
Even something that's not typical for our countries,
cheerleading is becoming more and more
popular. Schools and groups release cheerleaders photos and videos and try
to sell them.
Raising Funds is not an easy task as the wealthy people are
the minority. This culture has to start at the Elementary Schools
and be slowly introduced to parents.Sports at the colleges and
high schools
are therefore not a motivation yet to get more students. It could also be
because the major universities and Secondary schools are State owned. Ice
Hockey and other winters sports are the most popular in the Central and
Eastern Europe because of the climate I would say. Many countries
including Czech Republic,
Ukraine, Slovakia,
Poland , Slovenia
and Russia
only to mention a few, are very
strong when it comes to these sports. The only concern is that we're
"losing" the best people to more developed countries. A good example being
the NHL, the American National Hockey League. If you have a
close look, many of players in the major teams come from one of the Slavic
countries aforementioned.
Well, the good news is that it's slightly improving. High School and
college Players are getting more sponsors and the sport culture is slowly
growing back. It's even possible to find many groups of cheerleaders
supporting their teams like we see in American football and in the
NBA.
Cheerleading is finally becoming a part of the culture at least in
Czech-Slovakia and Poland and it is very good. More and more girls and women
are becoming interested in sports too. |
